Thumbs up Front Lock Folders

Three friends working together at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. One has accident in rubber mill, he loses his hand, unable to open a standard rear lock knife the 3 friends develop the front locking system for folders, they each become well known knife makers. They were W T Fuller (one hander) knives, Harvey McBurnette and Dick Dorough. The front lock folders were shown in NY, where Al Mar and Pete Kershaw picked up on the design (never Patented) and incorporated into todays knives, now the front lock is still being used by custom makers and production guys.
Thanks to Mike Lovett for portions of this piece of knife history. I am currently looking for a knife by Dick Dorough. If anyone has information, I would appreciate a shout.

Default RE: Dick Dorough

I am so thrilled to see this post. Dick was my grandfather and I was always in awe of his knifemaking skills. Unfortunately he passed away two years ago, and any remaining knives (approx. 50) were split between his two remaining children. I have been googling his knives trying to find some for sale. Good luck in your quest. If you are able to find one I know you will be pleased with his workmanship.
